I got a letter...
Over a year ago I posted something to this group and I just got a letter from someone in Canada who identifies herself as "E"

I completely forgot that she wouldn't be leaving an address if she was to keep the "Perks" spirit, but if she's still on here, I want to thank "E." I'm a lot better than I was a year ago, not so sad during the Holidays as previously stated since I'm over my ex- and have a new love : )

Some info on me:
I'm working on a thesis for "Fight Club" (the film), finishing out my senior year at the University of Louisville, running UofL's Film Committee (which programs our movie theatre), and have two films in development (hope to have one produced by the end of this summer).

So that's my life and I hope you are well "E." I recommend the following:

"Children of Men" for movies and "Fight Club" if you haven't seen it yet.

Most things by Lupe Fiasco. His song "Sunshine" reminds me of my girl : )

"World War Z" by Max Brooks is amazing, as well as "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller. (lol both are in crazy different realms of interest. "Z" is an oral history of the zombie war and is IMMENSELY well detailed. "Jazz" is a regular dude talking about his thoughts on spirituality, which was refreshing to hear someone discuss the same issues I bounce around in my head. If either of these don't sound good, at least read the first two chapters and then decide.)

Anyway, I don't know if "E" is on, so for those in the Perks community, I hope you guys are swapping letters and life is good.

If anyone needs to send a letter or wants to be sent one, here's my address/e-mail me yours

So it's been hell for the last seven months trying to make sense of everything.

Can someone please write me?

I met someone on here who told me they'd write, but I wrote them a year ago now and they've never responded.

I'm sorry, but the Winter Break has made me very sad and it would be nice to get a letter from somone

The last six months have been really tough and I've been itching to read The Perks again....however I feel like it's like going on a drinking binge that allows you to let it all out. All the frustrations, emotions and thoughts will come pouring out when I read about myself (that is, as Charlie; part of the appeal is how similar I am to him or him to I).

Desperate appeal, please can someone be my 'Friend'? I had someone, but I have a horrible feeling that address is wrong. I don't care about getting any reply, but I want to know that at least someone is reading my letters :/
Comments are screened. This LJ is not my 'real' one. Please let me write to you?

hey guys. perks is my favourite book, as well as dangerous angels but francesca lia block but thats besides the point. i have a question just to start some involvement in this community. perks is constantly being comaped to 'catcher in the rye' what do you guys think about that? how are they similiar? what makes them different?
personally. i absolutely love perks but on the whole i didn't really like catcher in the rye. i know i'm one the only people on the planet who didn't but i just didn't find it that intriguing. it just didn't stay with me.

Hi. I've never posted in this community before or any community...and I'm kinda new to lj, but I love the Perks of Being a Wallflower. It is probably my favorite book (surprise, surprise). I'm hoping this is all o.k...if not, feel free to delete?

Anyway, yesterday I was watching Garden State, and afterward before I went to bed I read Perks. There was one part when Charlie said...

"And finally he found this really amazing song about this boy, and we all got quiet.
Sam tapped her hand on the steering wheel. Patrick held his hand outside the car and made air waves. And I just sat between them. After the song finished. I said something.
'I feel infinite.'
And Sam and Patrick looked at me like I said the greatest thing they ever heard. Because the song was that great and because we all really paid attention to it. Five minutes of a lifetime were truly spent, and we felt young in a good way. I have since bought the record, and I would tell you what it was, but truthfully, it's not the same unless you're driving to your first real party, and you're sitting in the middle seat of a pickup with two nice people when it starts to rain." pg. 33

And I was wondering for the longest time what that song could be. Then I remembered earlier while watching Garden State there was this great song that came up, Simon and Garfunkel's "The Only Living Boy In New York." Maybe that could have been the song?

um yeah, sorry it took me so long to get the point..heheh. I just thought I should share this with the perks community.

over our spring break, my english class was assigned to read perks as an outside assignment. when we came back to school, we seperated into discussion groups. it turns out that i was the only one in my class who figured out that charlie was molested by his aunt.

did all of you figure this out when reading the book? i'm very curious about this because i was surprised that no one in my class knew that.

i really want to go
::the smiths::

Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
I'm tired and i
I want to go to bed

Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
And then leave me alone
Don't try to wake me in the morning
'cause i will be gone
Don't feel bad for me
I want you to know
Deep in the cell of my heart
I will feel so glad to go
Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
I don't want to wake up
On my own anymore

Sing to me
Sing to me
I don't want to wake up
On my own anymore

Don't feel bad for me
I want you to know
Deep in the cell of my heart
I really want to go

There is another world
There is a better world
Well, there must be
Well, there must be
Well, there must be
Well, there must be
Well ...

Bye bye
Bye bye
Bye ...

ps--simply amazing.
